Responsible entertainment rules
Last updated: 16 October 2026
This document is an informational template and should be reviewed by a lawyer admitted in Australia before you rely on it for your own business. These rules form part of our terms and conditions.
1. Adults only
Participation in casino-styled formats, and in a free-play machine zone where one is booked, is limited to guests aged 18+ and over. Our hosts may ask a guest to confirm their age and will decline participation if it is not confirmed. Minors are not admitted to these activities. The supervised children’s track on a family day is a separate programme and contains none of these activities.
2. Chips, credits and the absence of stakes
Chips and credits are props. They are not sold and cannot be bought, won from us, topped up or taken away. They are never exchanged for money, goods, vouchers, discounts or any other valuable. There are no stakes of money or property, and the outcome of an activity gives a participant no financial benefit. Chips carry no printed denomination.
Where a free-play machine zone is part of your event, each cabinet runs on its own internal credit balance. The machine itself issues the credits; a guest pays nothing in. Note and coin acceptors are removed from the cabinets. Nothing is paid out and nothing is exchanged.
3. This is not gambling
Because there are no stakes and no winnings of money or value, the service is not gambling within the meaning of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth) or of the gambling legislation of the state or territory where the event is held, and it does not require a gambling licence.
4. Taking part is voluntary
No guest is required to take part in any activity. Watching, talking and sitting an activity out are normal ways to spend one of our evenings, and our hosts are briefed not to persuade anyone into a seat or a station. A guest can leave an activity at any point without explanation.
5. Running an event safely
- Alcohol is not part of any programme and is never supplied by us. Bar service, if any, is arranged by the client or the venue and is subject to the venue’s licence.
- Our hosts may pause or close an activity if a guest’s behaviour makes it unsafe or unpleasant for others, and will tell the client’s contact if they do.
- Our coordinator is on site for the whole programme and is the person to raise a concern with.
6. If casino-styled activities are not right for your group
For someone with experience of problem gambling, casino-styled activities may be unwelcome even without stakes. If that is a consideration for your group, most of our catalogue contains none of these elements. The co-operative and daylight formats are a direct alternative:
- Harbour Adventures — pirate crews and treasure routes
- Puzzle Rooms — escape room and murder mystery
- Field Days — company olympiad and family day
- Dance Floors — disco and neon nights
- Grand Rooms — Gatsby gala and Hollywood night
Tell us when you enquire and we will not propose a casino-styled format at all.
7. Information and help
If gambling is a source of concern for you or for someone close to you, free and confidential support is available in Australia from the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858, and online at gamblinghelponline.org.au. This is general information. We are not affiliated with that service and we do not provide counselling.
